Question: Am I guaranteed a review after I submit my book and payment?

Answer: Yes. As long as the book is fiction and written in English. It can be a published or unpublished manuscript.

Question: Can I use the review and interview to promote by book?

Answer: Absolutely! You can use it anywhere and in almost any way you want. The book review can be a part of your book page on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, iBookstore, Goodreads, Wikipedia, your website, your blog, your press release, etc. The book review is an important and essential part of your marketing plan. If you are quoting from the review, you’ll need to include where the comment came from. Example:

Question: What is the turnaround time for receiving my review?

Answer: The turnaround time starts from receipt of the book, not when you placed your order. The guaranteed time is 45 days for books under 300 pages, and 60 days (or more) for books over 300 pages. The extra time is needed so the Monster has time to comfortably digest your book and write a meaningful review without being rushed.

Question: What kind of books do you accept for review?

Question: What features and services does The Monster offer?

Answer: The Monster offers three services. The Monster Review Service guarantees a 500 word review on 4 major retail sites and authors will also be offered the opportunity to participate in an author interview. The Monster Twitter Service is a genuine Twitter service where the Monster tweets the authors book to our thousands of followers. The Twitter Blast service we provide is only for authors that have book promotions currently running; like free books, or book giveaways.

Question: Why should I pay for a review? Don’t you also review books for free? And what about the free reviews I can get through online booksellers or local publications?

Answer: The Hungry Monster does offer a free review service, but the reviews are not guaranteed and are subject to the reviewer’s tastes and availability, as is true with all other free review sites. All review publications must get funding somewhere. Traditionally, print review has been financed by advertisements and subscriptions from the mainstream publishing industry whose books are then reviewed ‘free’ to the author, yet in fact are subsidized by the traditional publisher. The Monster believes fee-based reviews serve an important role in the world of reading and writing as they assure a high-quality and impartial look at a book. The fee goes toward paying the reviewer for their time and in no way pays for a positive review.

Question: Who will review my book?

Answer: All reviewers associated with the Hungry Monster have a deep passion for books, have a college degree and are professional writers and editors.

Question: How do I get my book to you?

Answer: After you complete your order through the PayPal secure site you will automatically be taken to the Monsters upload page where you can send a digital copy of your book. PDF is the simplest format, but the Monster also accepts MOBI, EPUB, or DOCX formats. If you were not redirect, please use this link to go directly to the upload page.

Please note that the confirmation email is sent to the email address associated with the PayPal account that purchased the service. If you haven’t received a confirmation email within 24 hours, contact the Monster at monsterreview@gmx.com so we can resolve the issue immediately.

Question: Will you guarantee that my review is positive since I’m paying for it?

Answer: Absolutely not. All the reviews posted on this site are an honest opinion of any work submitted. The fee goes toward paying the reviewer for their time and maintenance on the site. It in no way pays for a positive review.

Question: Can I have my book review sent to me first before it is published?

Answer: Yes. Please request this in advance.

Question: What if I just don’t like the review?

Answer: If the review doesn’t contain any errors, then we will not re-write the review to make it more complimentary. The Hungry Monster is ethically bound to write impartial reviews and will not be influenced to make changes. We do offer the option of not publicizing the review in which case the review will not be posted and simply emailed to you. Please request this in advance.

Question: Nope, just tired of making sentences with words. Time to take a break.

Answer: You’re pretty awesome!

Question: How long will my review be?

Answer: The Monster aims for approximately a 500 word analysis that consists of both a summary and review of the book. Because the reviews are written by people and not machines, some reviews will be a little longer while others might be a little shorter.

Question: How long will my review run on your website?

Answer: All reviews are archived on The Hungry Monster Book Review website and will be searchable by title, author, star rating, and genre.

Question: Where will my review be posted?

Answer: All reviews are posted on The Hungry Monster Book Review website; other sites include (but are limited by the books availability on the site): Amazon.com, Barnes and Noble website, GoodReads.com, Kobo.com, Alibris.com. After that, it’s up to you how you want to use the review. All that we ask is that you properly accredit the review to The Hungry Monster Book Review.

Question: What do you do with my book after I send it to you?

Answer: We will hold the book for 15 days after the book review is published and then it will be deleted.

Question: Is there a maximum length for the author interview?

Answer: A good length for an interview is somewhere between 1,000 to 1,500 words. If the interview goes beyond this word count the Monster will trim it a little, but guarantees that it will still carry the essence of your response. This is just to keep the reader engaged. As most people on the internet are prone to skimming through things, we should work together to keep their attention on you as long as possible. If your interview requires extensive editing, not a problem, we can work together to get it down to size.

Question: I bought the Monster Twitter Service. When will my book be tweeted.

Answer: We plan tweets to optimize for clicks and impressions. We’ve determined that the best time to tweet is between 7AM-11AM PT. We usually schedule 1 tweet a week to give you exposure over a longer period. But if you want to have your tweets sent on specific times and dates then just let us know and we’ll be happy to accommodate you.

Answer: Awards are given to books reviewed via the Monster Review Service. The silver award is given to books that receive a 4 star rating.
